Orkla set to move production out of Lithuania
“It’s a very important step for our company in the sense of innovations. New technologies will be targeted at higher production capacity and products will be subject to new quality standards,” Suslavicius-Felix CEO, Darijus Taraila, said in a press release.
“Ketchup production will be moved to the most advanced production facility in Sweden, production of tomato pasta, mustard and mayonnaise – to an upgraded production facility in Latvia and production of various other sauces – to Austria,” he said.
Production at the plant in Kaunas would be discontinued by the beginning of 2017, Taraila said, adding that Suslavicius-Felix would continue operations as a representative of Orkla Foods’ brands in Lithuania.
In 2015, the turnover of Suslavicius-Felix rose by an annual 6.2% to 8.3 million euros.
Orkla Group acquired 70% of shares in the Lithuanian company back in 2000. Five years later, it acquired the remaining 30% from businessman Ricardas Suslavicius.
