Maxima Latvija achieved EUR 674.35 mln in turnover in 2014; profits down by 21%

Maxima Latvija, which operates the chain of Maxima supermarkets in Latvia, achieved EUR 674.35 million in turnover last year, which was by 0.13% more than the previous year, when the company achieved EUR 673.47 million in turnover, reports LETA, according to the company's financial report.

Maxima Latvija operated with EUR 13.9 million in profit last year, which was by 21% less than in 2013, when the company posted EUR 17.74 million in profit.

 

The company's management previously informed that it expected profits to drop in wake of the Maxima supermarket tragedy in November of 2013, which took the lives of 54 persons.

 

Maxima Latvija paid EUR 95.5 million worth of taxes to the state last year.

 

The company also re-constructed three supermarkets in 2014 in Madona, Jelgava and Riga, as well as opened new supermarkets in Kraslava, Salaspils, as well as two in Riga.

 

Maxima Latvija was established on November 29, 2000. The company's share capital is EUR 4.91 million. Maxima Latvija's parent company is the Lithuania-registered Vilniaus Prekyba UAB, which in turn belongs to the Netherlands-registered Lincoln Land Erste B.V..
