According to the minister, clearly established bilateral needs determine successful cooperation between business and science. Science should have competences needed for business, while business should know what it requires of science and clearly convey its needs.

"Benefits of partnership between business and science are obvious. Beginning with advantages that scientific and educational institutions receive from business contracts; added value created for universities, which attracts young people, knowledge-driven local and international businesses. Finally it creates new jobs, increases the level of innovation, develops the whole economy and improves international competitiveness," the economy minister said.

According to Gustas, it is necessary to invite businesses to take advantage of the infrastructure of science, study and business valleys and open access centres.

The minister also urged to assess the activities of scientists and researchers based on the results of experimental development and to support targeted scientific work.
