"Orkla" interested in acquiring "NP Foods" - LNT television

Scandinavian company "Orkla" is interested in acquiring the Latvian food production company "NP Foods", reports NOZARE.Lv/LETA reffering to unofficial information obtained by the LNT television channel.

NP Foods group's companies are Saldumu tirdznieciba, Laima, Staburadzes konditoreja, Staburadze, Gutta and NP Logistics.


Orkla representative indicated that since the company's shares are listed at the Oslo Stock Exchange, the company will never comment any speculations about acquisition deals.

NP Foods representatives, on the other hand, said that the company is operating efficiently and growing fast, nevertheless, third-parties' interest in acquisition of NP Foods is occasional at best.


Orkla shares are listed at the Oslo Stock Exchange, and its main headquarters are located in Norway. Orkla is the leading food supplier in the Scandinavian and Baltic region.

In 2013, the group earned NOK 33 billion.


NP Foods turnover in 2013 reached EUR 64.32 million. It belongs to Malta-registered "Nordic Partners Food Limited", where 51 percent of shares belong to Latvia-registered "Nordic Partners", with Daumants Vitols being the largest shareholder.
