The Estonian state-owned Estonian State Forest Management Centre (Riigimetsa Majandamise Keskus – RMK) posted record turnover and 73% profit growth in 2013, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.

RMK's council approved on Thursday of the company's audited 2013 reports, according to which RMK's turnover was 155 million and profit 31.5 million euros. In 2012, the turnover was 142.2 and profit 18.2 million euros.

The centre's board chairman Aigar Kallas said that the company sold by a tenth more forest material last year and it sales price grew by 3%. "The biggest ever turnover and second biggest profit figure of the year 2013 shows that RMK has ability to cope in relatively poor market conditions too," he said.

RMK sold 3.2 million cubic metres of timber as forest material for 140 million euros last year.

RMK allocated to the state 15.8 mln euros of dividends and paid 4.2 mln euros of income tax on that. RMK paid also 4.3 million euros of land tax and planted 18.4 million tree plants, by a million more than in 2012.
