The most professional journalists in 2013 awarded in Latvia

National news agency LETA photographer Edijs Palens has been awarded Latvian Union of Journalists' annual "Most Professional Journalist 2013" award for the best press photograph, informs Nozare.lv.

"F64" photographer Romans Koksarovs also received the award, as the Journalists Union board chairman Juris Paiders told LETA.

 

Also awarded were Andrejs Hramcovs ("telegraf.lv") for outstanding contribution to the freedom of the press, Daina Jankalne (Latvian State Television) for emphasizing European values, Rolands Feldmanis ("Forbes Latvija") for the best article on economics, Andrejs Pantelejevs ("Diena") for professionalism in expressing his civic position.

 

"Dienas Bizness" cartoonist Agris Liepins and "Latvijas Avize" cartoonist Eriks Oss were awarded for best press cartoon strips.

 

Newspaper "Chas" and its creators Pavels Kirilovs, Tatjana Andrianova, Sergejs Tjulenevs, Ina Oskaja, Ksenija Zagorovska, Valerijs Zaicevs and Valerijs Karpuskins were awarded the lifetime achievement award, as well as editor Gunta Strautmane.

 

The Latvian Journalism Awards are supported by the European Commission Representation in Latvia, railroad company Latvijas dzelzcels, Dienas Gramata publishing house, Baltic International Academy and Rietumu bank.
