The deadline for completing the works is November 2013.
The substation of the Estonia Power Plant is one of the most important substations in Estonia and the performance of the entire Estonian electricity system depends on its technical condition as it is linked to the 330 kV electricity lines that equip the entire Western Estonia, Southern Estonia and the City of Tallinn with electricity.
The substation is also an important part of transit as it connects Russian and Latvian power networks through 330 kV lines.
In the course of the renovation, all current switchyard equipment that has deteriorated will be replaced and a new building for operating the substation will be built.
