Team of Latvian and French architects win sketch design competition for Latvian Paralympic Sports Center
The authors of the winning entry, titled Ciemats (Village), included Ruume Arhitekti from Latvia, LOCAL S.A.S. d’architecture from France and K-Forma from Latvia.
The winners of the sketch design competition received a monetary prize of EUR 15,000. Two third-place winners will each receive EUR 7,000 and the winner of fourth place will receive EUR 1,000.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Daiga Dadzite, president of the Latvian Paralympic Committee, noted that the project will be the only Paralympic sports center not only in the Baltics but also the nearest European region.
Architect Juris Dambis who chaired the jury which judged the sketch designs submitted in the competition, said that the winner was chosen unanimously.
The Latvian Paralympic Sports Center will be built in Riga's Bisumuiza neighborhood. The complex will be constructed on a land plot of nearly ten hectares.
