Polish tour operator Itaka, which entered the Lithuanian market earlier this year, is expanding its operations and will offer trips from Lithuania's second-largest city of Kaunas from the upcoming spring as well, informed LETA/BNS.

Currently, the company flies from Vilnius but will launch flights to the Greek island of Zakynthos, Bulgaria's Varna and Antalya in Turkey, from Kaunas in cooperation with Czech charter airline Travel Service Airlines.

"It's part of our strategy. The company is expanding and wants to offer more options for Lithuanian tourists. The decision to fly tourists from Kaunas has nothing to do with Small planet airlines halting its operations," told Ausra Dange, a marketing specialist at Itaka.

In her words, Itaka works with the Czech airline since the start of its business in Lithuania. Besides Travel Service Airlines, Itaka tourists are also works with Turkey's Corendon Airlines“, Italy's Blue Panorama and Poland's Enter Air.

Travel Service Airlines is estimated to perform around 50 flights from Kaunas over the upcoming summer season and service up to 17,000 clients.
