BC, Riga, 26.11.2018.Print version
Rimi Baltic retail group has concluded an agreement with YIT Kausta on the expansion of the retailer’s logistics center in Riga for EUR 75 mln, Rimi Latvia spokeswoman Dace Preisa told LETA.

She said that under the agreement YIT Kausta would renovate the storehouses and expand the logistics center to 59,000 square meters of storage space, while the total floor space of the Rimi Baltic logistics center would be increased to more than 84,000 square meters.

As a result of the logistics center project, the Rimi storage premises on Augusta Delgava Street will become three times larger, reaching 85,000 square meters and becoming the main logistics center of the Rimi retail chain in the Baltic states. From this storehouse, deliveries of goods will be arranged to stores in Latvia, as well as stores in Estonia and Lithuania. Investments in the project are planned at EUR 75 mln, the company informed.

The plan is to start construction works at the end of this year so that the storehouse can reopen in the second part of 2020. As the project is being launched, Rimi Latvia moved its logistics operations to temporary premises in Kekava in September.

As reported, Rimi Latvia turned over EUR 870.429 million in 2017, which was a 4.8% rise against 2016, and the company’s profit grew 27.3% y-o-y to EUR 40.847 mln.

Founded in 1992, Rimi Latvia is fully owned by Rimi Baltic, a member of the Swedish retail group ICA.
