Construction on Kaunas CHP plant launched

Lithuania's state-owned energy group Lietuvos Energija (Lithuanian Energy) and Finnish-owned Fortum Heat Lietuva are launching the construction of a 150-million-euro combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Kaunas, reports LETA/BNS.

"There will was a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony today. This is the first stage. Everything is going according to plan," Fortum Heat Lietuva CEO Vitalijus Zuta told BNS on Friday.

 

According to Zuta, works on the construction site were started two weeks ago. The cogeneration plant is expected to be built by the fall of 2019.

 

Baumgarte Boiler Systems, Konecranes Finland, LAB and Siemens will build the facility and supply the equipment under contracts worth 75 million euros in total.

 

The total value of the project is estimated at 150 million euros.
