Gastronomic performance Latvian Senses awarded as second best culture events in 2017

The series of events Latvian Senses created for the Riga-Gauja region and its title European Region of Gastronomy 2017 received the award of the second best culture event in 2017 at international BEA World Festival in Portugal, informed LETA the Riga Tourism Development Bureau (RTDB) representative Anna Blaua.

In total more than 300 events from 28 countries of the world participated in the festival. The goal of Latvian Senses project was to address and present the offer of Riga-Gauja as the European Region of Gastronomy and its concept Wild at Palate to the Finnish, Estonian and Lithuania media, tourism sector representatives and opinion leaders, as well as promote the region as an appropriate gastronomy tourism destination.

 

The top five of the culture events category were projects from Latvia, Spain, France, Germany and Russia. The best project was the centenary event of the Plaza Mayor in Madrid, Spain.

 

Among participants in the contest there were such popular brands as Google, BMW, Audi, Nestle, Huawei, Martini, Lego, Oriflame and others. International jury of 28 experts awarded BEA World Festival projects in 20 categories.

 

The Latvian gastronomy event was organized by the Riga Tourism Development Bureau, Sigulda county council, Cesis city council and Valmiera city council in cooperation with the Tourism Department of the Latvian Investments and Development Agency. The concept of the event was developed by Skudras Metropole.
