Porzingis scores career-high 40 points; Knicks win

In NBA action on Sunday, Latvian bigman Kristaps Porzingis scored career-high 40 points to help the New York Knicks overcome the Indiana Pacers 108:101 (25:33, 24:29, 23:22, 36:17), reports LETA.

The Knicks were trailing 19 points with two minutes to go in the third quarter, but Porzingis went on to score 15 points in a row, and 24 points over the last 14 minutes of the match, to help his team erase the deficit and defeat the Pacers.


In his seventh 30-point performance this season, Porzingis was on the floor for 37 minutes, making 15 of 24 shots from the field, including two of four three-pointers, and hit eight of nine free throws. He also pulled down eight rebounds and blocked six shots.


Tim Hardaway Jr. had 16 points, Frank Ntilikina scored 10 points and seven assists and Enes Kanter had 18 rebounds. On the other hand, Thaddeus Young led the way for the Pacers with 18 points, Victor Oladipo had 17 points and Domantas Sabonis scored 16 points.


The Knicks are now in eighth place in the NBA's Eastern Conference standings with five wins and four losses. The Pacers are in ninth place with five wins and five losses.


The Knicks will next host the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday.
