2017 Riga Architecture Award presented to Pullman hotel

Hotel Pullman, located at 24 Jekaba Street in Riga's Old Town, won the 2017 Riga Architecture Award, the Riga City Architect Office informed LETA.

The 12th annual award goes to Pullman Riga Old Town hotel and the architects and designers of the hotel: Martins Hermansons, Roberts Valdmanis, Olafs Ievins, Nora Saulespurena, Kristaps Grundsteins, Aldis Blicsons and Toms Kokins. Besides the main award, the jury also handed out prizes to another eleven buildings in Riga.

 

The Riga Architecture Award this year honors a modern and emotionally expressive solution in historical environment, said Riga City Architect Gvido Princis. Meanwhile, several prizes issued by the Riga City Architect Office this year single out impressive residential buildings, which mark a new trend on Riga's property market.

 

Pullman Riga Old Town hotel appeals to the public as well as professionals, it is characterized by the ability of the commissioning party, architects and designers to reach agreement, without compromising the project, on a wide range of questions, and at the same time treat Riga's Old Town and other historical buildings in the vicinity with respect they deserve, commented Princis.

 

This year's public vote award, based on an online vote on the Riga City Architect Office's Facebook account, goes to a three-story building at 121 Gertrudes Street and a multi-functional new building at 11 Sporta Street.
