The four wind farms owned by Enefit Taastuvenergia, renewable energy production unit of the Estonian state-owned Eesti Energia, produced 107 gigawatt-hours of electricity in the first six months of the year 2017, marking a 37% increase compared with the same period a year before, writes LETA/BNS.

The reasons behind the output growth are improved wind conditions and reliability compared with the previous year, head of Enefit Taastuvenergia Aavo Karmas said in a press release. Electricity production increased in all four wind farms.

"People can't control wind conditions, but the great work of engineers for increasing the reliability of the wind turbines has to be acknowledged," he said, adding that 107 GWh of electricity is enough to be used by 43,000 households with average consumption for a year.

Estonia's wind farms produced 333 GWh of electricity in the first six months of the year, 36% more than in the same period in 2016, Elering said. Of that 32% was produced by Enefit Taastuvenergia. The total capacity of Enefit's wind farms is 111 MW.
