Latvian, Estonian companies plan to jointly develop healthy snacks

Latvian company Biorganik5 and Estonian company Chaga OU under Estonia Latvia cross-border cooperation program plan to jointly develop organic jelly candy with freeze dried berries, Biorganik5 board member and project manager Iveta Cirule reported LETA.

She said that the goal of the project is to develop healthy snacks made of resources available in the Baltic States.

 

Cirule said that Biorganik5 is the project leading partner, and ensures production and distribution of products made of organically grown aloe. Estonian project partner Chaga OU has specialized in processing harvests from nordic resources into powders that can be added to meals. "The new sweets product line will be based on aloe juice, forest berries and chaga (medicinal mushroom)," said Cirule.

 

On July 5 both official partners signed an agreement. The international team has already started work on the product development, and the new products should be available by 2018.

 

According to Biorganik5, the project starting date is May 1, 2017, and project will end by the October 31, 2018. The total project budget is EUR 183,209.20. 85% or EUR 155,727,82 is financed by Estonia Latvia Cross-border Cooperation program and 15% or EUR 27,481.38 is co-financed by project partners.

 

According to Firmas.lv business database, Biorganik5 was registered in 2013 and has a share capital of EUR 2,800. Cirule is the company’s sole owner.
