Gulbis won seeded del Potro at Wimbledon

Print versionToday, Latvia's Ernests Gulbis defeated Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro (Chile) 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 in the second round of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis tournament, cites LETA.

Gulbis, who received a wild-card invitation to Wimbledon, is currently
ranked 589thth in the ATP rankings, while del Potro is ranked 32nd.
This was only the fourth win of the season for Gulbis, who had been out of
action for several months due to injury, thus his considerable drop in the
rankings.
Gulbis has earned 70 ATP ranking points for advancing to the third round of
Wimbledon, where he will face Serbian star Novak Djokovic, who is currently
ranked 4th in the world.
This is the tenth time that Gulbis has played at Wimbledon, but this is
only the second time he has advanced past the first round.
As reported, Gulbis today defeated Victor
Estrella Burgos (Dominican Republic) 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 in the opening round of
Wimbledon.
