Baltic Snowpark Agency, a group of Latvians who have been building tracks for snow sports and other extreme sports in the Baltics and elsewhere for many years, will be building snowboarding facilities for the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, reports LETA.

"Last year we were in South Korea to build the tracks for the Word Cup as a test for the Olympic Games," said Janis Jansons, the head of BSA Projects or Baltic Snowpark Agency.

He said the weather conditions had been very complicated and the three-week efforts in construction of the track were completed just three hours before the beginning of the official practice session but the South Korean Olympic Committee had said that it was the best track they had ever have. "And so we got the contract for the Olympic Games," Jansons said.

He said the team had never even dreamt about building the facilities for the Olympics. "We have been building tracks for World Cups and World Championships but the Olympic Games seemed out of the reach," he said.

Baltic Snowpark Agency started with building small snow sport parks in Latvia and later found customers also in the other Baltic states. Now they are a sub-contractor to Germany's Schneestern which builds snow parks around the globe. By now Baltic Snowpark Agency also builds wake parks and cycling parks.
