This year, people were donating money to support psychosocial care for cancer patients, organized by the Dzivibas Koks association. The amount raised during the campaign will be enough to organize psychosocial care for 513 persons.

"We are very grateful for such unexpectedly generous support," Dzivibas Koks board member Maija Karklina said. There are almost 75,000 people in Latvia who have been diagnosed with cancer, she added.

Ziedot.lv head Ruta Dimanta in turn thanked the public media, in particular Radio 5, for their contribution, as well as all people who have donated money for the campaign.

The Dod Pieci campaign started on December 15 and continued through December 21.

In 2014, EUR 64,550 was raised during the Dod Pieci campaign in 2014 to provide Christmas presents for more than 5,000 elderly residents in Latvia, while last year EUR 135,546 was donated to cover the cost of special needs assistants for more than fifty families with children with special needs.
