The funding has been approved for release over a period ending in 2023.

EUR 40 mln of the total amount will be made available to research projects already this year as the government today approved a EUR 15 mln allocation for the first round of the project tender.

The research projects submitted in the first round of the tender will be assessed until November 15. In all, 309 research projects, the implementation of which would require EUR 158 mln, are competing for the money in the first round of the tender, the ministry said. The projects' authors were also required to submit recommendations from their respective industries' associations on the planned projects' potential to develop commercially promising products, services or technologies.
