China wishes to import more Latvian agricultural products - Chinese PM

In a letter published in today's edition of the Neatkariga Rita Avize newspaper, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who has arrived on a visit to Latvia, said that relations between China and Latvia remain mutually beneficial, and that China would like to import more agricultural products from Latvia, writes LETA.

eqiang points out that since diplomatic relations between Latvia and China were established 25 years ago, trade volumes between the two sides has continued to gradually grow, and that China has become Latvia's largest trade partner outside the EU.

''We have achieved mutually beneficial cooperation in such areas as port construction, transport and logistics, agricultural products, industry etc. We continue to liberalize our trade relations and develop mutual trade,'' he said.


The Chinese premier also reminds that Latvian dairy products have already successfully entered the Chinese market, and that China wishes to import more high quality Latvian agricultural products. He also called on the Chinese side to continue investing in Latvian rail, port and airport projects.


Keqiang points out that the Chinese side also wishes to strengthen contacts with Latvia in the areas of culture, science and technology, education and tourism.


As reported, Riga will be hosting the 16+1 summit of the heads of states of China, Central Europe and Eastern Europe today and tomorrow.
