Latvia's LMT mobile operator increases turnover to EUR 139 mln in nine months

Latvian telecommunications operator Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) achieved a 9% increase in turnover in January-September to EUR 139 mln as compared to the respective period in 2015, the company’s spokeswoman Elina Lidere informed LETA.

LMT’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) totaled EUR 46.4 mln, up 6% year-on-year.


She said that development of mobile data services and growth in the number of customers and sale of smart devices has allowed LMT to continue a strong growth in the third quarter of 2016. Data service development saw the fastest growth by 14% from the third quarter of last year.


Lidere also said that mobile TV LMT Straume services are becoming more popular, with the number of views growing by 22% in a year. LMT Straume broadcasts from the Olympic Games in Rio were watched by almost 200,000 people.


"More and more of our customers are successfully using different mobile solutions to improve their competitiveness and daily life. Smart city, smart company management and customer service solutions are being introduced. LMT continues investments in development of communication network and services in order to promote Latvia’s competitiveness in the global market," said LMT president Juris Binde.


As reported, LMT earned EUR 17.201 mln in profit last year, which is 12.1% less than in 2014. The company's turnover last year rose 4.8% to EUR 151.347 mln.

Founded in 1992, LMT is the oldest mobile operator in Latvia. LMT shareholders are Scandinavia's TeliaSonera (49 %), Lattelecom (23%), the state-owned Latvian State Radio and Television Center (23%), and the Latvian Transport Ministry (5%).
