Estonian leasing market grows by a quarter in 9 months

New sales of Estonian leasing companies in the first nine months of 2016 totaled 840 mln euros, representing an increase of 23.7% against the same period last year, writes LETA/BNS.

Growth was the most robust at 27% in the machinery and equipment segment, which accounts for 31% of the total new lease portfolio. Significant increases were recorded also in the commercial vehicles and passenger car segments, which expanded by respectively 23.7% and 19.2%. The passenger car segment continues to hold the biggest share in new sales with 45%, the Estonian Leasing Association said.


The total value of the lease portfolio of members of the association at the end of the third quarter was 2.19 bln euros, 5% bigger than a year ago. The quality of the lease portfolio is good - payments overdue for more than 60 days accounted for only 0.49% of the total portfolio.


The Estonian Leasing Association has nine members who between them account for an estimated 98% of the leasing market.
