Vilniaus Prekyba’s revenue grew to EUR 3.17 bln in 2015

Vilniaus Prekyba, the owner of Lithuania's grocery chain Maxima, the drugstore chain Eurovaistine and the DIY-chain Ermitazas, posted 3.17 billion euros in consolidated revenue, not including VAT, for 2015, up 3.7% from 3.06 billion euros in 2015, informs LETA/BNS.

The group's consolidated net profits last year jumped by 22% to 101.8 million euros.

 

"The revenue growth in 2015 was mostly due to an economic recovery and improving consumer expectations and, hence, increased consumption, as well as companies' investments in expansion," Vilniaus Prekyba CEO Raimonda Kiziene said in a press release.

 

She said that Vilniaus Prekyba aimed to strengthen its position in the Baltic countries, a well as in the Polish, Bulgarian and Ukrainian markets, where its companies hold a small market share.

 

The group's revenue rose by 1.7% to 1.79 billion euros in Lithuania, by 4% to 0.75 billion euros in Latvia, by 9.9% to 0.48 billion euros in Estonia, by 6.3% to 88.7 million euros in Poland, and by 10.4% to 74.3 million euros in Bulgaria. Revenue in Ukraine, where it launched operations in 2015, came in at 105,600 euros.

 

According to the press release, Latvia remains Vilniaus Prekyba's largest foreign market with 23.5% of the total revenue, followed by Estonia in second place with 15%. Further down the list are Poland with 2.7%, Bulgaria with 2.2% and Ukraine.
