Industrial tourism may be profitable, show examples from food production companies in Lithuania, which see this as an efficient marketing instrument, even if revenues from visitors cover the costs only, Verslo Zinios daily said, cites LETA/BNS.

"Our company profits from tourism, however, we do not aim for high profits, as the company's main operations is production of candy. The operations of the Ruta chocolate museum is aimed at communicating about the company and its products. By way of direct communication with consumers, we hear their needs and present a century-old history of our factory, our products and nourish the chocolate culture," says Odeta Kirniene, the head of the Tourism Division at Ruta candy factory.

Arunas Jakaitis, the head of the oil mill production at Aletovis, has stressed that tours of their company are free of charge, however, they pay off, as merely a few leave the mill without buying flax-seed oil.
