He said that the pizzeria has been ''quietly'' operating in test mode for a week already, which has allowed the staff to get used to their work as well as detect and correct any problems, as well as improvements, Zandersons said.

''We have served a wide range of customers in our first week operation – from students to foreign tourists,'' he said, adding that the reviews have been good and revenue has also been better than expected.

''We will see how everything goes, but we are already thinking about opening a second location elsewhere in Riga,'' he said.

As reported, the first Pizza Hut restaurant in Latvia is opening its doors in Riga this week.

In Zandersons' words, the Pizza Hut eaterie in Riga will be the only dine-in restaurant in the Baltics. The two-floor pizzeria will have more than 90 seats.

Pizza Hut offers traditional thick American pizzas, as well as salads, pastas and desserts.

"We have been operating in test mode for week already. The first client response is positive," Zandersons said.

Around EUR 1 million will be invested in the development of the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and Pizza Hut in Latvia, the KFC franchise owner in the Baltic countries Sigurdur Arnar Sigurdsson told LETA earlier.

The first KFC restaurant opened in Riga Old City on August 28, 2015.
