Tourist numbers in Jurmala increased by 17% in summer season

According to the latest information from the Central Statistical Bureau, during the third quarter of the year (July, August and September), the Latvian coastal resort city of Jurmala registered a 17% increase in tourists when compared to the same period last year, LETA was informed by Jurmala City Council spokeswoman Zane Leite.

Out of all of the tourists visiting the city, 80% were foreigners, while 20% were local residents.

 

In the third quarter of the year, Jurmala remained the second most visited city in Latvia by tourists.

 

The largest increase in tourists to Jurmala last year were from Lithuanian (+95%), Great Britain (+54.7%), Finland (+46.4%), Norway (+43.3%) and Germany (+40%).
