Windy H1 brought record renewable energy production in Estonia

Estonia's state-owned energy company Eesti Energia produced the first six months of the year 2015, 124,466 megawatt-hours of wind energy, which would be sufficient for the electricity consumption of over 40,000 average annual consumption households, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Eesti Energia renewable energy and small co-production manager Innar Kaasik said that the first half of the year has been satisfying for wind farm owners.

"While 2014 had poorer wind conditions than normally, the year 2015 has fully compensated for this. Eesti Energia's wind farms have in the first six months produced 124,466 megawatt-hours of electricity, which is, as compared to the first half of 2014, a quarter more. An example is that such an amount of electric energy is consumed in a year by 41,488 households with average consumption," said Kaasik.

Innar Kaasik said that it is good to note that Estonia has reached the stage where the wind resource is utilized efficiently.

Eesti Energia is Estonia's second-largest producer of wind energy. It has a total of four wind farms in Narva, Aulepa, Paldiski and Virtsu.
