BC, Tallinn, 19.01.2015.Print version
At noon on Friday, January 16th 2015, wind turbines posted a new record in Estonia, producing 273.9 MWh of electricity, which accounted for a little over 22% of the consumption of that hour, Postimees Online cites the Wind Energy Association.

Energy trading company Nordic Power Management synoptic Elina Matsievska said the wind conditions are favourable for wind farms to post records in Estonia today thanks to low pressure area Hermann. Winds can reach 15 m/s in gusts inland and on the coast, the islands and the turbine tower heights up to 23 m/s. "There is near maximum wind electricity production till today at midnight," added Matsievska.

2015 has started well for wind energy. In January, the wind turbines have not yet rested a day and in a half month, have produced 53 GWh wind energy. In January last year, the total production was 48.6 GWh.
