Let's Do It! community work day focuses on heritage objects in Estonia

BC, Tallinn, 17.04.2013.Print version
The traditional Let's Do It! community work day on May 4, 2013, focuses on heritage objects because it is the cultural heritage year, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

The organisers of the work day team up with the Culture Heritage Year working group and call people to participate in cleaning up and prettifying cultural heritage objects and memorials. Estonian Heritage Board development director Tarvi Sits said that besides cleaning work, sharing knowledge about the objects is also in the focus and local heritage inspectors offer contacts of people who can introduce to people the history and stories of the objects.

Currently it is possible to register for community work connected to 94 cultural heritage objects.

The first “Let’s Do It” campaign in 2008 focused on cleaning Estonian nature from garbage and the second one in 2009 on the “My Estonia” idea-generation campaign, but in later years, every community itself has been able to decide what they want to do for their community on that day. That option is in force this year too.
