Swedish Days in Liepaja will be held in October 26 - 27

During the upcoming Sweden Days in Liepaja the exhibitions “AccessAbility” and “Design for Dignity” will be premiered. The exhibitions present the stories of Latvian and Swedish individuals who live with disabilities. The exhibitions will be launched in the Liepaja Latviesu Biedribas house on October 26th at 17.00 by the Swedish ambassador, Mr. Henrik Landerholm.

During the days, the disability ombudsman of City of Stockholm, Ms. Riitta-Leena Karlsson will share her thoughts about independent life and inclusive society. In addition, Liepaja municipality will tell their story about developing an inclusive city. 

 

The Sweden Days will also feature the exhibitions Sweden from a Bird’s view, Sweden like Inspiration, Life Puzzle and Facing the Climate. Together they give a diverse image of Swedish society today.  Volvo Trucks will present the “Safety on the Road” at Liepaja´s Raina school on October 26, 16.15. On October 27, the Swedish contemporary dance short film Willing to fly, willing to fall will be shown in the Great Amber concert hall. Continuing the ballet theme, two ballet pedagogues from Sweden – Jenny Westring and Eytan Sivak – will participate in the jury of The V International Children Ballet festival competition. 

 

This year Sweden and Latvia are celebrating 25 years of re-established diplomatic relations. The next Swedish Days will take place in Ludza on December 13. On December 10 there will be a celebration of the Swedish holiday Lucia in Daugavpils with the participation of the opera singer Inese Galante.
