The Exhibition “Belarus and Belarusians” will hold in Riga
The touring
exhibition is a project of the National History Museum of the Republic of
Belarus, with the aim to present the main stages of historical development of
Belarus, to give a brief description of cultural characteristics, to help
understand what is Belarus, and who are Belarusians.
The
exhibition reflects the history and culture of Belarus from the positions of
modern history science, highlights the processes of formation and development
of the Belarusian ethnos, nation, state, the features of historical formation
of spiritual, material and cultural processes and their relationship with the
world history and culture, introduces the monuments of historical and
cultural heritage of Belarus.
The
exhibition “Belarus and Belarusians” consists of 10 stands, where the thematic
pictures, photos with items and documents, the explanatory texts in Belarusian
and English are displayed. The exposition is divided into two thematic parts:
one devoted to the history of Belarus, the other – to the cultural heritage.
The first part presents the brief overview of the main historical stages of
Belarus (antiquity, first state formations, the Great Duchy of Lithuania,
Rzeczpospolita, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Belorussia, and present days).
The second part presents the features of material and spiritual processes of
Belarusians (Belarusian nature, musical culture and theatre, traditions and
holidays, national kitchen, traditional costume, Belarusian art, language,
literature and sport).
5 stands
are supplied by interactive panels with additional information and audiovisual
records.
