Latvian MFA participates in Globsec 2016 security forum in Slovakia

Today and tomorrow, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics will take part in the GLOBSEC 2016 international security forum in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia, and deliver remarks in a session on strategic communications, informs LETA.

This year's conference will feature sharing of views on the upcoming Warsaw NATO Summit, the impact of the outcomes of the U.S. Presidential election on transatlantic cooperation with Central Europe, developments in the Middle East and Ukraine, and other urgent issues of international policy. GLOBSEC 2016 will bring together influential experts from leading European and transatlantic think-tanks, academia, business leaders and politicians, including the foreign ministers of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and Lithuania.

 

In the sidelines of the forum, Rinkevics will have bilateral meetings with the Slovakian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur, Georgian Defense Minister Tinatin Khidasheli, and Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak.

 

The GLOBSEC international security forum is an annual high-level conference enabling discussions on solutions to urgent international security issues. The event has been taking place since 2005. The GLOBSEC forum is organized by the Slovak Atlantic Commission and the Central European Strategy Council in association with the Slovakian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
