The Integration and Migration Foundation Our People (MISA) in Estonia has for the first time launched a call for projects targeting Estonian cultural associations abroad, informs LETA/BNS.

Eligible for grants are projects that support the preservation of the Estonian language and culture in Estonian communities abroad and encourage Estonians living abroad to participate in cultural events in Estonia, spokespeople for the foundation said. The total budget of the grant call is 40,000 euros. The minimum amount of support per project is 400 euros and the maximum amount, 8,000 euros. Applications can be submitted till January 28, 2016.

"Participation in the project call provides Estonians abroad with an opportunity to engage in the Estonian culture in their country of residence, tighten contacts and information exchanges with creative people living in Estonia and be more involved in important cultural events taking place in Estonia," deputy secretary general of the Culture Ministry Anne-Ly Reimaa said.

Applications can be submitted by non-profit organizations, foundations and sole proprietors.

The project competition helps to carry out the aims of the national compatriots program 2014-2020 which include supporting the preservation and development of Estonian patriotism outside Estonia. The program is funded by the Ministry of Education and Research and the Culture Ministry.
