BC, Riga, 14.12.2015.Print version
The eighth annual Santa Claus charity run on Dome Square in Riga Sunday morning gathered over 700 participants from all age groups, and organizers – the Latvian chapter of the International Rotary Club, is pleased to report that the event made EUR 10,000, informs LETA.

The total amount consists of the participation fee paid by each runner in the race. The money goes to a specific cause – to ensure proper care (i.e., nannies) for the children of women who are seriously ill.

TV/radio personality Valters Krauze hosted the activities, while entertainment, i.e. musical background, was provided by the youth choir "Balsis", conducted by Ints Teterovskis.

During the warm-up session before the race, the many children present had the opportunity to meet and speak with the real Santa Claus, who had set up station at the gigantic Riga City Christmas tree on the square.
