The Latvian Pavilion and its content titled "Armpit" at the Venice Arts Biennale 2015, just days after opening, has already attracted major attention. May 6-8 the fair is open to artists and professionals in the arts only, and so far, 7,000 have walked through the "garage" created by artists Katrina Neiburga and Andris Eglitis, informs LETA.

Curator Kaspars Vanags points out that the Latvian multimedia installation stands out in that it is a "happening that involves the viewer directly, physically."

Solvita Krese, instrumental in the project, notes that the Latvian idea quite by chance coincides with this Biennale's central theme and concept.

"We live in an era where we share knowledge and services, something hand crafted is almost all but gone. But in garages, we can often find things more artistic than those exhibited in high-tone art galleries," Krese commented.

According to Krese, the success of "Armpit" is due to its professional team that include architect Austris Mailitis and graphic designer Edgars Zvirgzdins.
