PZU Lietuva made an increase of 9.7% in insurance market in 2008

In 2008, the insurance company PZU Lietuva grew most rapidly in the non-life insurance market – by 35.8% or 20.6% above the average growth in the market and made an increase of 9.7% year-on-year.

In January-November 2008, PZU Lietuva had a market share of 14.82% of the Lithuanian non-life insurance market and was second in the list of largest Lithuanian insurance companies. In 2007, the company was the third largest company in Lithuania, reports ELTA.

 

According to the results of 2008 announced by the Insurance Supervisory Commission, over the past year, the volume of written premiums to PZU Lietuva went up by a third compared to the same period last year. The written premium to the insurance company totaled 203.36 million litas (58.62 million euros). Over 2008, PZU Lietuva paid compensations for damages of about 84.89 million litas (24.47 million euros), an increase of 23.5% year-on-year.

 

Currently PZU Lietuva is the insurance company having a largest authorized capital in the Lithuanian market. In December 2008, the shareholders of PZU Lietuva decided to increase the company"s authorized capital from 75.4 million litas (21.73 million euros) to 90.4 million litas (26.06 million euros).
