Wages of lecturers and scientists in Lithuania will increase by 20% every year till 2011

According to the Payment Increase for Employees of Science and Education Institutions programme in 2009-2011 confirmed by the Lithuanian Government, the wages of these employees will grow by 20% every year till 2011.

It is planned that the payment for work of the employees of education and studies institutions will rocket by over 70% in 2011 compared to 2008, reports ELTA.

 

It is expected that the professions of a researcher and lecturer will become more attractive and that more and more young people will choose them. Better conditions will be provided to improve the quality of studying and strengthen the potential of science. According to preliminary data, the implementation of the programme will require 389.3 million litas (112.982 million euros).
