Unemployment Insurance Fund’s payments in Estonia amounted to 27 mln kroons in August 2008

In August 2008 the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund paid a total of 27 million kroons of unemployment insurance compensation, collective redundancy compensation and employer’s insolvency compensation, writes EPL Online.

Most of the paid benefits were the unemployment insurance benefits (21.1 million kroons). Collective redundancies’ compensation amounted to 4 million kroons.

 

In comparison to the first eight months of last year, this year collective redundancy payments have grown the most, by a total of 3.3 times. While from January to August in 2007, 13.9 million kroons were spent on collective redundancy compensations, this year the amount was 45.4 million kroons.

 

During the same period of time, a little more than twice as much was spent on unemployment insurance payments in the first eight months in comparison to the previous year – 121.7 million kroons in 2008 and 54.8 million kroons in 2007.

 

In August, 1,123 persons became new recipients of unemployment insurance benefits and in the first hundred days of unemployment, they will receive an average of 4,370 kroons per month in compensation.
