Lithuanian banks' H1 profits soar to EUR 155 mln

Lithuanian banks and foreign bank branches posted 155.4 million euros in combined profits for the first half of 2017, up 46.4% from 106.2 million euros in the same period last year, the central Bank of Lithuania said on Tuesday, cites LETA/BNS.
Eleven banks and foreign bank branches ended the first half with
a profit and another two suffered losses.
The banking system's assets totaled 26.415 billion euros in late June, up
2.2% from a quarter ago and up by 10.6% year-on-year.
The combined loan portfolio (including leasing), which makes up the
bulk of the assets, grew by 5.8% year-on-year to reach 18.624 billion euros at
the end of the first half.
Loans to businesses increased by 5.1% to 8.836 billion euros, and loans to
private individuals grew by 8.4% to 8.387 billion euros, with housing loans up
by 8.2% to 6.65 billion euros.
Overall deposits rose by 11.2% over the year to 18.661 billion euros, with
private individuals' deposits up by 7.3% to 11.212 billion euros.
