Latvian current account has EUR 28 mln deficit in H1

During the first six months of 2017, Latvia's current account of the balance of payments had a deficit of EUR 28 million in contrast to a surplus in the same period last year, the Bank of Latvia reported LETA.

In June 2017, Latvia’s current account had a deficit of EUR 187 million as compared to a EUR 79 million deficit in June 2016 and a EUR 58 million deficit in May this year.

 

Compared to June 2016, the deficit of goods rose by EUR 150 million to EUR 310 million, while the surplus of services dropped by EUR 28 million to EUR 123 million. The surplus of primary income decreased by EUR 60 million to EUR 20 million and the surplus of the secondary income account grew by EUR 8 million to EUR 19 million in June 2017.

 

The capital account showed a surplus of EUR 76 in this June.

 

In 2016, Latvia's current account of the balance of payments accumulated a surplus of EUR 369.54 million, which included a EUR 181.1 surplus accumulated in January-April.
