Nordea bank in Latvia posts EUR 19.6 mln in 6-month profit

In the first half of 2015, Nordea bank in Latvia reported a profit before corporate tax amounting to EUR 19.6 million, the bank informs, informs LETA.

Total deposit volumes reached EUR 1.5 billion, a decrease of 5% compared to the same period last year, however an increase of 11% when compared to the previous quarter. Total lending volumes have remained relatively stable and have increased by 1% compared to Q1 2015.

 

The net interest income reached EUR 26.5 million, whereas the total commission income amounted to EUR 4.6 million, an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year.

 

''I am pleased to see that despite the challenges the market is facing, we continue to work with increasing earnings. I believe that this is a result of our targeted activities. We continue to encourage private customers to pay more attention on increasing their savings and I am particularly glad to see that they are truly becoming more reasonable in accumulating their personal financial portfolio, and that active usage of the bank’s daily operations has become more balanced and with a greater focus on savings,” the head of Nordea bank in Latvia Janis Buks points out.
