Estonian Finance Minister discussed EU economic situation with French counterpart

Estonian Finance Minister Maris Lauri met on Thursday in Tallinn with her French counterpart, Michel Sapin, to discuss supporting EU's economic growth and initiatives meant to combat tax evasion and the financing of terrorism, finance ministry announced LETA.

"The meeting was businesslike; we talked about the state of the European economy and the possibilities of getting the economy growing stronger. We agree with Michel Sapin that there is a need for both the European Commission investment plan and major structural reforms of member states as well as adherence to the agreed upon rules," said Lauri.

 

At the meeting, the ministers talked also about tax evasion and tax fraud prevention, for which good cooperation of tax administrations, improving-automatising the exchange of information and overall increase in transparency in the whole of Europe is needed.

 

EU cooperation on fighting money laundering and financing terrorism, which is an important topic for France, were also discussed.
