Minister: gas from LNG terminal could be supplied to Ukraine from 2018

Lithuania is ready to share its experience with Ukraine in striving for energy independence. Ukraine could receive gas from the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in Klaipeda since 2018, Minister of Energy Rokas Masiulis said at the Lithuania-Ukraine Presidents' Council, informs LETA/ELTA.

The 7th Council of Presidents of Lithuania and Ukraine discussed concrete measures by which Lithuania could help Ukraine carry out the necessary reforms and ensure regional security.

 

"We have submitted to the Ukrainian side all of the translated legal and technical documents related to the construction of the LNG terminal. We can also help build such a terminal. We also started laying a gas pipeline to Poland, we could supply gas through Poland to Ukraine once the connections are enhanced," said the energy minister.

 

According to Masiulis, LNG could be supplied from Klaipeda to Ukraine starting 2018.

 

Lithuania is also ready to help Ukraine protect its interests from the exploitation by monopolists, increase the use of renewable energy and augment energy efficiency.
