Share of renewable energy in Estonia increased to 14.3% in Q3

Renewable energy accounted for 14.3% of the total electricity consumption in Estonia in the third quarter of the year 2014; a year ago the share was 11.2%, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.
The total renewable energy production in the third quarter was 288 gigawatt-hours and the production grew by a third.
60% of renewable energy production came from biomass, biogas and waste. Wind power accounted for 38%.
Elering paid in the third quarter renewable energy support for 253 gigawatt-hours of electricity. In monetary terms, the amount of subsidies for renewable energy grew by 8% to 13.2 million euros.
