Electricity bourse price at NPS at lowest level in almost 2 years in March

The system price of electricity at the Nordic electricity bourse Nord Pool Spot (NPS) fell in March in all price regions, the last time the monthly price was as low was in summer 2012, LETA/Postimees Online cites Estonian main grid company Elering.

The system price of electricity in the Nordic electricity bourse Nord Pool Spot (NPS) Estonian price region fell by 9% to 31.57 euros per MWh, exceeding the average Finnish price by 0.36 euros. Prices were equal in Estonian and Finnish price regions in 94% of hours in March.

 

NPS system price fell by 11.5%, being on average 26.74 euros per MWh.

 

In Latvia and Lithuania, the price was equal, 41.61 EUR per MWh, which was the highest price at NPS.

 

The price of natural gas imported to Estonia was 29.80 EUR per MWh. The price of CO2 emission quota fell a bit, being in the range of 4.34-6.9 euros per tonne.

 

In March, production exceeded domestic consumption by 20% in Estonia; Latvia managed to cover 80% and Lithuanian 27% of electricity consumption with local production.
