The sides discussed Latvian-American cooperation opportunities, defining and popularizing Latvia as the world's greenest country, and agreed that the tandem of a clean environment and a green economy is a successfully chosen path to Latvia's development, LETA was informed by the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry.

The officials believe that these notions correspond to Latvia's current opportunities, nature capital, cultural and historical values. They also have a considerable development and advertising potential worldwide.

"I urged the ambassador to take part in popularizing Latvia's green image. After all, these are international values – to live and work in a clean environment ensured by environmentally friendly methods, which is possible by cooperating and exchanging good practices," explained Sprudzs.

The ambassador in turn admitted that Latvia's green path is also the choice of the U.S. and the correct choice in the 21st century.
