Estonia offers Lithuania to supply additional electricity after the closure of the Ignalina nuclear power plant, when lack of it may be experienced.

Estonian prime minister spoke about this during the European Council meeting in Brussels and Dalia Grybauskaite, European Commissioner for finance programming and budget, who is currently paying a visit to Lithuania, said that she had also heard this proposal, writes ELTA.

According to preliminary data, Estonia is determined to supply up to 500 megawatts of electricity.

On Friday, after the meeting with President Valdas Adamkus, Grybauskaite called this "very good news".

"I will be very happy if this fact is confirmed. It would be much easier to solve Lithuania"s problems that would appear after the closure (of the Ignalina nuclear power plant – ELTA)," Grybauskaite told journalists.

The European Commissioner said that she heard this officer herself from the Estonian ambassador on Thursday.
