At 7 a.m. today, about 25,000 clients of the power utility Latvenergo were cut off electricity, as the company's press secretary Ivita Bidere said in an interview with Latvian State Television this morning.

Most power outages have been registered in Vidzeme: in Sigulda, Jurmala, Kekava, as well as in Zemgale – in Bauska and Jelgava, writes LETA.

Latvenergo informs that the storm continues yet, and new cases of damage due to high winds are being reported from all over the country.

Latvenergo also notes that the storm has caused no damage to power lines ensuring power supply from Latvia to other countries and vice versa.

As reported, strongest wind gusts were registered in Ventspils at around 5 a.m. today – up to 31 meters per second, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center's data.
