Thermal power plant opened in Panevezys

On Thursday a first thermal power plant of such type in Lithuania is opened in Panevezys. This power plant with 35 MW power capacity, stoked by gas, will produce electric energy for Lithuanian consumers and heating for Panevezys.

The thermal power plant of a combined circle will be able to generate about 230 GWh heat and around 235 GWh electical energy per year, informs ELTA.

 

More than 130 million litas (37.65 million euros) is invested into the designation and construction of the power plant. Agriculture Minister Vytas Navickas participated in the celebratory opening ceremony and, according to daily Panevezio Balsas, praised Panevezys for the innovation, and the company Panevezio Energija for sustaining its development strategy.

 

Construction works of a new power plant were financed by Panevezio Energija, Lithuanian budget as well as 20 million litas (5.79 million euros) support was allocated from regional development fund.
